Adult Entrepreneurship Subject Matter Expert

DMMSI is working with our partners to bring education into the 21st century. We will be leveling the playing field and bringing academic equity back to education. We are going to be combining rigorous state aligned lessons with immersive 3D technologies and gaming to include the power of interactive courses, 3D hands-on lab simulations, and course walk-throughs. Content will be in a Virtual Reality Ready (WebVR) learning environment that will “wow” and engage students. Students are not the only ones in need of a step up in educational resources. Teachers need to be taught the latest technologies, mentored on how to incorporate technologies into their daily teaching, and trained on how to teach courses that are outside of their trained subjects so they can teach them to students. You will also be in charge of helping the design team create ‘Train The Teacher’ sections for all lessons. We will provide the resources and courses to ensure teachers are trained to teach the classes they are given.

We are looking for a Adult Entrepreneurship Subject Matter Expert to help us create our new product. This position reports to the Project Manager.


Type: Full Time 1099 Contractor

Salary: $57,375.00 a year

Contract: 3-5 Years


This position requires one to be innovative enough to turn educational content into games, video animations and 3D simulations. You must also be technology savvy. If you are not, this position is not for you.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Utilize your expertise in learning to determine the best method of delivering the content based on the learner. (Must understand the 4 learning types)

  • Assist the leading of the team in designing and writing a complete K-12 curriculum that aligns with all each State's Education Standards

  • Assist the leading of the team in designing and writing eLearning course materials that are functional, intuitive, informative, accurate and consistent with sound instructional design principles focused on K-12 education from the K-12 curriculum your team has written.

  • Assist the leading of the team in designing and writing ‘Train The Teacher’ sections for all lessons.

  • Assist the leading of the team in developing templates for various course models.

  • Collaborate with the development team.

  • Add substance to outlines and storyboards.

  • Ensure that content is accurate.

  • Answer questions that arise about the content area.

  • Must possess strong proofreading and editing skills.

  • Provide thorough and detailed quality assurance of all course material.

  • Good sense of aesthetics = designs interactive features that are visually appealing and support learner’s understanding of content.

  • Strong background in Universal Design for Learning concepts, ADA compliance and web accessibility along with assistive learning technologies.

  • Develop course materials using presentation software compatible with LMS, Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360, and/or Vyond. TRAINING PROVIDED

  • Experience creating & editing voice overs using Audition/ Audacity or like tool; experience using SnagIt (version 13 or newer) or like tool for screenshots. TRAINING PROVIDED

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must own a computer with high speed Internet access.

  • 3-5 years writing content for K-12 education.

  • Experience with Education Standards.

  • Understanding of pedagogy and discourse-based science instruction

  • Experience storyboarding and outlining curriculum

  • Exceptional ability to conceptualize and execute content for a variety of media types and audiences.

  • Extraordinary organizational, verbal and written communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • High degree of flexibility and good humor

  • Minimum of a BS/BA degree; MS/MA in Education preferred

  • Minimum of 2 to 4 years' experience preparing Multimedia Content and publishing multi-screen interactives using course authoring tools such as Articulate 360. (Storyline, Replay, Rise). Required, but we are open to individuals willing to be trained to design within these technology tools.

  • Experience in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premier, After Effects, Audition, Illustrator) and one of the established Learning Management Systems.


Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any applicant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, this position is regularly required to communicate with and receive communications from DMMSI interns, contractors, employees, and vendors/clients in real time using online and other electronic media.


Location: Pasadena/Azusa Area.

This is an on-site position with the option to work remotely 2-3 days out of the week.
