Script Writers

DMMSI is designing outside the box of traditional education and is designing curriculum for a new educational industry. We are looking for 18 Script Writers to join our team to produce scripts for virtual education rooms and videos based on the curriculum developed by our design team. This position reports to the Project Managers and works directly with Curriculum Designers and Subject Matter Experts.


Type: Full Time 1099 Contractor

Salary: $53,875.00 a year

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in the development of communications plans to promote strategic communication goals, and initiatives

  • Coordinate Subject Matter Experts and Curriculum Designer reviews of materials to ensure accuracy

  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with team members and vendors to ensure the timely development, inventory and distribution of education materials

  • Establish methods for obtaining feedback; track, evaluate, analyze and report results of communication materials to measure their impact

  • Be a great storyteller. Read like a writer. Work seamlessly with designers to marry words and images. Be a quick study of communications trends. Grab the reader’s attention and keep it. Turn complex ideas in clear and simple language. Avoid cliché, hyperbole and jargon.

  • Safeguard product quality. Master our educational preferred style. Ask the right questions. Forbid errors of any kind. Perfect the skills of proofreading, copyediting and fact checking (and know the difference between them). Educate and train curriculum designers on writing and creative techniques and trends.

  • Stay business minded. Manage time and meet all project deadlines. Develop content strategies for lesson and assessment.

  • Master multiple channels. Be skilled in writing and editing for multiple media forms

  • Work closely with the Director of Video on the coordination of logistics, correspondence, scripts, shot lists and production schedules.

  • Train and work with curriculum design team to help them come up with scripts & corresponding storyboards for games, videos, and WebVR rooms.

  • Video productions include but are not limited to educational videos, client stories, webcasts, podcast videos, training videos, live streaming, testimonials, and content video clips.

  • Assist in the management of production schedules.

  • Assist in video setups & shoots.

  • Assist with obtaining permission to use music, images or content that is subject to copyright laws.

  • Assist with estimates, obtaining budget approvals and booking all needed resources.

  • Travel to events and assist with video capture, as may be necessary.

  • Ensure archives of content are captured and stored as needed.

  • Collaborate with internal teams on story and promo concepts/scripts.


QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • A degree in journalism, public relations, marketing, advertising, communications or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience

  • 3-5+ years of professional writing experience for video, interactive, web and/or and technical information-based programs

  • Demonstrated ability to motivate, lead, self-initiate, set objectives, manage and performance

  • Demonstrated ability for designing, implementing, setting deadlines, and ensuring program accountability and compliance

  • Unfazed by deadlines. You can set a schedule and keep it.

  • Superior verbal, written communication and editing skills, including the ability to articulate and simplify complex issues and present in plain language

  • Communicate clearly and concisely, adapting writing style for different audiences and both print and electronic media

  • The ability to effectively work cross-functionally with all levels of staff as well as external organizations and vendors

  • Ability to work well under pressure and consistently meet daily and weekly deadlines

  • Must be able to embrace change and adjust quickly to work demands and shifting priorities

  • The ability to turn complex ideas into the strongest concentrate of meaning

  • Genuine empathy for users. You derive joy from helping them succeed.

  • An intense hatred of hyperbole, jargon and boring stuff

  • A pleasant demeanor and willingness to embrace constructive feedback

  • You have a charismatic personality and enjoy expressing it in your writing.

  • You enjoy working quickly. You can fire out 300 words over lunch.

  • Demonstrated experience using MS Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
